The Legal Division strives to be a valuable business partner by providing timely legal advice and counsel that protects the integrity, reputation, and business of Fifth Third Bancorp. Attorneys, paralegals, and administrative assistants work in unison to support all lines of business in their daily activities, decision-making, performance, and in the achievement of strategic initiatives and goals.
Under general supervision, responsible for providing support for a variety of law-related activities that do not require a law degree including:
Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank#s risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Performs legal research.
-Conducts fact gathering.
-Drafts legal documents of some intermediate complexity.
-Maintains and updates files.
-Manages contract administration.
-Monitors case schedules and filing deadlines.
-Summarizes depositions, interrogatories and testimony.
-May design, develop and/or maintain department databases.
-Performs duties at the following proficiency-level:
-Requires knowledge and experience in own discipline.
-Still acquiring higher-level knowledge and skills.
-Builds knowledge of the organization, processes and customers.
-Solves a range of straightforward problems.
-Analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures.
-Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction.
-Performs a variety of law-related tasks under the direction of the Bank attorneys.
-Proactive surveillance of regulatory changes to the environment
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
-Bachelors degree preferred.
-Qualified in an American Bar Association approved curriculum; Earned a Certified Legal Assistant designation or has passed the Paralegal Advanced Competency Examination.
-3-7 years of experience after Paralegal qualification.
-Demonstrates excellent organizational, communications and time management skills.
-Normal office environment with little exposure to dust, noise, temperature and the like.
-Extended viewing of a CRT screen.
