Central Operations is the home of over 2,300 employees who handle Fifth Third Bank's back-office functions and Contact Center services for nearly six million customers. Our goal is to operate as an efficient, behind-the-scenes machine to allow Fifth Third Bank transactions to be seamlessly executed for our affiliates and customers.

GENERAL FUNCTION: Audits current UCC filings on complex commercial loan transactions to determine if collateral is properly perfected according to Article 9 regulations and takes necessary action to correct any errors in original UCC filings. Proactively reviews reports of coming due UCC's to insure all UCC's are continued within required timeframes to insure the bank remains in a secured collateral position. Proactively reviews UCC reports as assigned, tracks the results of these reports, identifies trends and communicates training initiatives to both the employee and manager responsible.

Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank#s risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.


  • Validates entity business status and legal name through navigation of Secretary of State Internet websites.

  • Prepares requests through vendor's website to order UCC Searches, Articles of Organization, Good Standing status documents.

  • Maintains ACCESS database on all requests processed and all documentation received from vendor.

  • Communicates with internal customers on requests for UCC services providing guidance to lenders on required documents.

  • Creates UCC-1 filings on new collateral.

  • Creates UCC-3 filings to amend original filings including debtor amendments/secured party amendments/collateral amendments/continuation amendments/and terminations.

  • Creates "In Lieu" filings to transfer UCC filings from Pre to Post Article 9 filing rules.

  • Updates mainframe to insure accurate tracking of UCC (lien filing) expiration dates.

  • Demonstrates the following:

o Utilizes the vendor website to create and submit an Original UCC-1 State Filing, an Original UCC-1 Fixture Filing, a UCC-3 Continuation filing, a UCC-3 Amendment filing, a UCC-1 In-Lieu filing and a UCC-3 Termination filing.

o States key differences between specified collateral descriptions.

o States key differences in Pre-Article 9 filing rules by state.

o Identifies when to file a UCC-3 Continuation versus a UCC-1 In-Lieu filing.

o Identifies filing requirements and documentation requirements for individuals versus organizations.

o Identifies filing requirements for UCC-1 Fixture Filings.

o Identifies filing requirements and Bancorp requirements for UCC-3 Termination filings.

o Identifies filing requirements for unique collateral such as equine, airplane engines, agriculture, assignment of contracts, assignment of membership interest and Purchase Money Security Interest.

o Presents process improvement ideas and cost-saving initiatives to management.

o Compiles Excel, Mobius and Access reports such as the Tickler Download, Update Status Report, 718 Report and Post Closing Reports.

o Coaches co-workers to improve work performance by communicating discrepancies found, logs results and communicates these results to the manager.



  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum 1 year UCC related experience

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong Analytical Skills

  • Navigation skills on Microsoft Excel/Microsoft Word/Internet
