Central Operations is the home of over 2,300 employees who handle Fifth Third Bank's back-office functions and Contact Center services for nearly six million customers. Our goal is to operate as an efficient, behind-the-scenes machine to allow Fifth Third Bank transactions to be seamlessly executed for our affiliates and customers.

GENERAL FUNCTION: This position is responsible for monitoring the daily activities of Bancorp Collateral Operations staff, which includes training, coaching, quality reviews, escalated customer issues and daily title operations. The Bancorp Collateral Team Lead is responsible for daily title activities such as verification of lien placement on title, termination of lien on paid collateral, repossession titling for past due collateral, end of term and lease payoff processing, customer service requests such as name change and state change for customer, and reporting of non-titled collateral and possible fraudulent activity for all consumer and commercial titled collateral.

  • Plans, assigns and monitors the workflow of a group of non-exempt employees within an assigned functional area, maintaining optimum efficiency and cost effectiveness while ensuring that production standards are met and maintained.

  • Ensure department functions are processed in accordance to state compliance guidelines and SLA requirements.

  • Ensures all title related operations are performed within Bancorp and vendor contracted guidelines. Assists with the training of the staff ensuring each staff member is appropriately trained regarding internal procedures, collateral operations, and vendor guidelines to process collateral title operations..

  • Assists department supervisor in managing the vendor title release and repossession processes to insure release and repossession deadlines are met in accordance with Bancorp and vendor SLA. Monitors customer service impacted functions such as state and name changes, requests for termination statements, and duplicate title requests for completion within published SLA.

  • Monitors the unconfirmed collateral process by identifying and processing key documents required to secure collateral on all Bancorp consumer and commercial titled products.

  • Handles and approves, in conjunction with the department manager, exception processing of collateral such as force placement of lien and payment of additional fees to secure lien.

  • Follows the guidelines, requirements and policies of the Bank, including FDICIA, Self-Assessment and Risk Management.

  • Maintains daily, weekly and monthly reporting of departmental activity, including production, quality, staffing models, missing collateral report and Self Assessments.

  • Maintains open communication with impacted lines of business such as regional credit centers, collections, legal, default, and remarketing to ensure awareness of collateral issues and proposed resolution. Represents the collateral area in dialogue with other lines of business. Administers the Team Lead Program to ensure that each employee receives a minimum of one quarterly coaching session to discuss the results of the program and to set goals for the future. Escalates any #does not meet# ratings to the Department Supervisor and Manager.

  • Ensure appropriate escalation of operational and/or employee issues to Department Supervisor or Manager.

  • Responsible for promoting team work and cross training of employees.




  • High School Diploma or equivalent; college degree is a preferred.

  • Minimum of 1 year of workflow managing experience.

  • Banking operations experience involving Consumer or Commercial Collateral Operations.

  • Minimum 3 years title experience in consumer or commercial collateral required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, as the candidate will be responsible for communicating with management team and external customers.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; Access is a plus. The candidate must possess the ability to create Excel spreadsheets (including formulas, graphs, filter, etc.) and accurately analyze the data.

  • Leadership skills, initiative, detail orientation, strong analytical skills and decisive decision-making skills required.

  • Ability to work in a team environment, presenting professional image and commanding the respect of staff, peers and senior management.

  • Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize assignments and projects in a fast paced work environment.
